About Us

Our mission is to be a catalyst in bringing human resource researchers and practitioners together to maximize knowledge about human capital through a combination of teaching, research, and engagement with organizations.

The Center for Human Resource Management (CHRM) was founded in 1992 with the goal of being recognized globally as a center of excellence in HR education, research, and practice. By combining highly-regarded HR scholars and leading HR professionals from Fortune 500 companies with our dynamic and highly qualified MSHRM students, the Center has created an environment that is changing the way HR is taught and practiced.

Key to our success is the CHRM Corporate Partner Board. Our Board is a group of leading HR executives from various industries who meet as a group, twice a year.  At the Board Meetings we discuss the latest issues in HRM and how to incorporate the knowledge and suggestions of our Board Members into our MSHRM program.

Over the next year, we expect to pursue the development and implementation of a number of new initiatives, including:

1)   Increase the number of scholarships and internships available to our MS in HRM students.
2) Develop a series of workshops for HR Professionals to bring the latest results from cutting-edge research to create value for their organizations and communications.
3)  Conduct a ground-breaking study to illustrate the role of employee engagement in initiating and implementing organizational change.

The CHRM is currently seeking a new Director.  The director will assist the Executive Director in all aspects of the Center for Human Resource Management operations and administration, as well as the strategic direction and planning of the Center.  We are seeking a person with a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management (or the equivalent training) with 6-9 years of progressively responsible HRM management experience.  The job requires excellent communication skills, event planning, marketing, and developing sponsor relations. In addition, the person will be engaged in developing educational opportunities, workshops, or conferences to our CHRM board members and other HR professionals.

For more information about the Director position, please contact Dr. Murray Barrick (mbarrick@mays.tamu.edu).
